There are many services that become available in the aftermath of a storm.  These are not the only services available.  Depending on the amount of damage, neighboring Counties and States will pitch in a helping hand.  We hope to be able to update you accordingly. 

SHELTERS:
 
You must call ahead to make arrangements.  DO NOT do so unless you are planning on living up to your commitment to go.  You must have  a current negative coggins and sign a release form, provide own bedding, feed and water. Below are the closest evacuation sites to Wilmington, there is one located in Western NC.
 
Pioneer's Harness Track, Southern Pines (910)692-8640 - 200 stalls available free of charge.
 
VERC - Dr. Jim Hamilton (910)692-8640 - 9 stalls and over 20 paddocks and pastures free of charge. Southern Pines.
 
Senator Bob Martin Eastern AG Center, Williamston; Brian Dygert (252) 792-5802.  Free if mandatory evacuation is declared.  Voluntary evacuation is a $3/day fee.  If facility is not in use, 296 stalls are available.
 
Hunt Horse Complex, Raleigh; Wesley Watt or Sherri Bridges (919)821-7400 or 733-2145.  485 stalls during declared emergency situations.

There are several relief funds and rescue leagues available, as well as a Veterinary Medical Assistance Team.  This team, headed by Dr. Jim Hamilton, is complete with an equine ambulance, and goes when they are needed.
